Jean was born, educated and worked in Manchester. It was in early retirement to the Lake District that Jean found the opportunity to renew her art interests. Workshops with tutors such as Christopher Asheton-Stones helped Jean learn basic skills. Courses such as the OCNW and botanical illustration led to developing a variety of work. Membership of the Ambleside and Windermere Art Societies continues to provide inspiration, help and encouragement. Jean joined ADAS in 1994.

Jean’s work is varied, both realistic and abstract interpretations of landscapes, buildings and flowers. She works in pen, pastel, watercolour and acrylic, choosing the medium for the subject. Some of her botanical work has been published by the LHS and various paintings are held in private collections, both in the UK and overseas. Jean regularly exhibits locally and her work is on show at Lakeland Reflections in Windermere, where her prints and handmade cards reproduced from her paintings are also sold.
