Don Bastow

I moved back north to live in Windermere with Jean in 1993 as a result of taking early retirement. When we were house hunting we had, by accident, stayed at a B&B with the Whittles in Elterwater. They were members of ADAS …..and the rest is history.

I had longed to paint for many years but was re-directed from Art when the year arrived at High School in 1946, when I, (or my Father !) chose Algebra, rather than Art for one of my subjects. Net result – I can genuinely say what influenced me into picking up a paintbrush was Walt Disney. Retirement, and moving to the Lake District in 1993. Consequently landscapes with plenty of water, mountains and low clouds, plus time time to do what I wanted between Monday and Friday had finally arrived.

So, ‘THANK YOU’ ADAS, for providing, almost thirty years of wonderful, happy friendly and relaxed atmosphere, for Jean and myself.
