Hi, I am an amateur, watercolour artist and have been a proud member of the Ambleside and District Art Society (ADAS) since 2016. I enjoy painting outdoors and the focus of my early paintings was often of the town’s stone buildings and its surrounding rugged countryside. However, my subject matter is now more varied and includes landscapes, portraits, animals and sometimes abstract art. When creating a picture my aim is to create a piece that is visually interesting, tells a story and has some technical challenge. The picture shown here is entitled ‘No.7 Vole Bank’ and was painted during April 2024. It was inspired by a newspaper photograph and I found the water reflections in the water to be very challenging. My goal is to be able to paint well in watercolour, something which I see as a leisurely journey because I know I still have a long way to go.
